To all of my friends: I love you. If you are reading this it is because I believe you to be a worthwhile human being. Race, gender, religion, philosophy, or opinions notwithstanding; I care for you. To my black(or other minority) friends: I hope you know I love you. I hope I've never treated you any differently than I would treat any other, and if I have, I hope you feel comfortable confronting me about it. I hope you have always felt comfortable with me, as I want you to; I do not want friends that only reinforce my existing biases and opinions. I can talk to the mirror if I want that. . . The truth is, I don't know what the right thing to say is, and I never do, but I know my love and support can't be the wrong thing. Please always tell me, and do your best to gently explain, if I do or say anything that needs addressed. You are my friend because I value your opinion. Please don't forget that, and always always always let me know if I can make myself useful. I find great value in helping my friends: those I love. To everyone: Please remember that we all fight our own battles. We all live our own lives under the shadow of history. Be forgiving. Be kind. Be happy.
